Free Time

Free from the tyranny of license plates
and their nagging need to be decoded,
free from all things I must do until I get them right,
I will let my gaze lie idle on the wave
before me and the next one too,
watching only for the gleaming arc of dolphins
and the military fly-bys of the serious pelicans
cruising down the valleys of the sea.
